You won’t get it every time. You’ll get something else.

The fact of the matter is you won’t get things your way every time.

I am in the middle of summer internship searches for law school.

It is a very intense process. The big firms only take about

7-13 students per firm from a long list of very good law schools.

I received an e-mail from one of those firms. They regrettably

informed me that I was not invited for a second round interview.

You know what my response was? Alhumdoillah (Praise Be

to God).

A weird response, right?

C’mon Ramin--you got rejected. An opportunity lost to work

at a big prestigious firm.

Praise be to God.

When I prayed, I didn’t pray “Please give me every opportunity

that is out there.”

No.

I prayed instead, “Please make this process easy. Bring

me whatever opportunity that is going to be good for me, my family,

and for my future. Keep away any opportunity that will be

detrimental to me in one way or another.”

Yes, I didn’t get this particular opportunity for another interview at this

prestigious firm. Yet, at the same time, God is answering my prayer.

I may not have been given this opportunity, but something else

will come along the way.

Praise be to God.

You won’t get it every time. You’ll get something else.
