Can’t help everyone

Asia and I were out at dinner with some close friends of

ours. As we are talking about the various things

happening in our lives, we get on the subject of

helping people.

I tell them about how I have been trying to help someone

close with a new opportunity in their life, but I feel

like the sound advice I am giving is not being taken.

One of the things I realized from our conversation that

night was even though we are willing to spend time

and energy to help someone else out, we have to realize

in the end it is still that person’s decision. Although

we would make the decision in a manner that suits us,

that person may not. It’s something to come to terms

with when trying to help people is you can’t

help everyone.

That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t trying helping people,

but also realize  you can’t do it at the cost that you

are upsetting yourself because you feel like the help

you are giving isn’t being given consideration.
